On Oct. 1, 1937, the highly-touted Clearwater Tornadoes, high school football team from Florida came to Watertown to battle the Cyclones. Three thousand people thronged Public Square to welcome the team when their bus, shown above, arrived. Seven thousand fans of both teams watched that evening as the Cyclones beat the Tornadoes, 32-6.
