STAR LAKE — The academic leaders for the class of 2019 at Clifton-Fine Central School are Zana Northrop, valedictorian, and Lydia Kerr, salutatorian.

Miss Northrop is the daughter of Laurie and Carl Northrop, Oswegatchie. She received the Student Sage Award, Golf Sportsmanship Award and Academic All-Northern honors and was named an Academic All-Star and an Arts All-Star by 7 News WWNY-TV.

She has participated in several activities, including National Honor Society, student council, Great Strides Walk for Cystic Fibrosis, school musicals, varsity golf, varsity volleyball, varsity cheerleading, figure skating, marching band, Envirothon, garden club, senior play and language club. She also participated in the New York State School Music Association, All-County Band, and Area All-State Band.

Miss Northrop will attend Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam to major in music education.

Miss Kerr is the daughter of Chad Kerr, Star Lake, and Jaime Simmons, Oswegatchie. She received the University of Rochester Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award, Clarkson Leadership Award, First Team All-Northern for soccer, softball and basketball, Second Team All-Northern for soccer and softball, Sportsmanship Awards for softball and basketball, Academic All-Northern recognition and the Section X 2018 Tony Murray Award.

She has served as president of the student council and has participated in several other activities, including National Honor Society, varsity soccer, varsity basketball, varsity softball, language club, CFCS Gay Straight Alliance, Great Strides Walk for Cystic Fibrosis and senior play. She has donated blood at several school-sponsored drives.

Miss Kerr will major in business at SUNY Potsdam.
