Croghan man indicted on rape, sex abuse charges

LOWVILLE — A Croghan man was indicted by a Lewis County Grand Jury on rape charges in court Friday.

Ryan L. Hoch, 21, was charged with two counts of first-degree attempted rape, first-degree sexual abuse with forcible compulsion and sexual abuse with physical helplessness, all felony counts. He was also charged with third-degree attempted rape, a misdemeanor.

According to the arrest report, Mr. Hoch is accused of having sexual intercourse with a 17-year-old girl without her consent on Jan. 13.

The incident took place at a home in the town of Martinsburg.

A not guilty plea was entered on his behalf during his arraignment on the indictment.

Mr. Hoch’s release on $20,000 cash bail continues and a temporary order of protection was issued for the alleged victim.

Oral arguments will be heard on the case on Aug. 2 in Lewis County Court.
