WATSON — Vehicles belonging to good Samaritans who stopped to help the driver of an overturned car in the town of Watson on Monday evening were hit by a tractor trailer, resulting in minor injuries.

The driver of the overtuwned car, Andrew L. Johnson, 55, Heuvelton, was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, meaning he had a blood alcohol content of at least 0.18 percent.

According to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department, Mr. Johnson was speeding south on Snell Road near the intersection with Olmstead Road when he went off the pavement, flipping his car.

A tractor trailer ran into three cars whose drivers stopped to “check on Johnson’s welfare.”

Two juveniles sitting in one of the cars sustained minor injuries and were taken to Lewis County General Hospital, Lowville.

No other injuries were reported.

Mr. Johnson was issued tickets for Watson Town Court and was released.
