PORT LEYDEN — A storage barn in the town of Lyonsdale was destroyed by fire Tuesday night.

Port Leyden firefighters at 10:57 p.m. were called to the Michael Gaither residence at 7212 Moose River Road and requested mutual aid from Lyons Falls, Turin and Constableville fire departments.

Despite a quick response from firefighters, the two-story structure and its contents were deemed a total loss, according to Lewis County Fire Coordinator Robert A. MacKenzie III.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

There was no insurance on the building.

Port Leyden ambulance squad members were also on scene.
