OSWEGO — Keith E. Chetney, 27, of Oswego, was arrested Thursday in connection with a stabbing that occurred on March 16 at the Pit Stop gas station on County Route 3 in the town of Granby.
Mr. Chetney is charged with first-degree assault and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies, for allegedly stabbing the victim during a physical altercation at the Pit Stop gas station.
According to police, troopers responded to the Pit Stop gas station at about 8:30 p.m. on March 26 for a reported stabbing incident.
The investigation has revealed that a 27-year-old male, whom police did not identify, drove his pickup truck to the Pit Stop gas station and convenience store with three friends to purchase drinks.
Upon exiting his truck, the man had a verbal exchange with one or two individuals that were standing around a sedan that was already parked at the gas station. Upon exiting the store, the man exchanged more words with the subjects, and during the altercation, the man suffered a single stab wound to the abdomen.
The victim was transported to Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, and was listed in stable condition.
