Sandy Creek — A Sandy Creek man has been arrested nearly a month after the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office received a tip that someone at his home was sending “child sexual abuse material” on the Kik messenger app.
Anthony C. Friot, 31, was charged Thursday with three counts of promoting a sexual performance of a child, Lt. Andrew J. Bucher said in a news release on Monday. The charge is a felony.
The sheriff’s office started investigating the case March 5 when investigators received information that someone was sending child sexual abuse material from a home in Sandy Creek, Bucher said.
On March 30, a search warrant was executed at the home, he said. Investigators seized many electronic devices, including seven cellphones, he said.
Friot was taken into custody and charged later that day. He was arraigned in Oswego County CAP Court and sent to the Oswego County jail on $1,000 bail. Friot posted bail that night and was released, according to the sheriff’s office.
Oswego County sheriff’s investigators are asking anyone who has any information about the case or knows any other victims to call them at 315-349-3411.
