CANTON — The St. Lawrence County Public Health Department reported four new cases of COVID-19 over the holiday weekend and one new case on Monday. The total number of confirmed cases reported since March 25 has grown to 224.

A total of 213 people have been released from isolation after recovering from the disease caused by the novel coronavirus and three people have died as a result of the virus in St. Lawrence County.

There are now eight known active cases of the virus being tracked by the county public health department.

The towns of Morristown, Lisbon, Stockholm and Brasher each have one active case, while there are two active cases in the towns of Madrid and Massena.

There is one person hospitalized with COVID-19 in St. Lawrence County.

The state Department of Health reports that 19,153 people in the county have been tested.
