U.S. Rep. Elise M. Stefanik, R-Schuylerville, will co-chair the Northern Border Caucus for the 116th Congress, joined by Rep. Brian Higgins, D-Buffalo.
“Canada continues to be our strongest economic ally, and we must actively work to maintain our partnership with them so that it is productive and beneficial for both countries,” Ms. Stefanik was quoted as saying in a news release. “My district borders Canada, and I’m excited to take on the responsibility of co-chairing this important caucus, which is a hallmark of the institution of the House of Representatives.”
The caucus includes 24 other representatives from as far west as Washington state and all along the northern border. Founded in 1994, the caucus works on issues related to economic, cultural and political partnership between the United States and Canada.
