The SUNY Canton Steel Bridge team is practicing speed construction of their bridge.

They will be competing at the AISC Student Steel Bridge Competition

National Finals at Southern Illinois University.

The team with the lowest total time will win in the construction speed category.

In addition to building a bridge, each team is required to give a presentation before a panel of civil engineers, instructors and students from competing universities. Explaining why they

chose their individual design.

Additional categories of competition are: aesthetics, lightness, stiffness, construction economy, and structural efficiency.

The team with the best overall performance rating is the winner.
