Watertown’s game at Geneva postponed


LAFARGEVILLE — Wyatt Parliament supplied two hits and three runs batted in along with pitching seven innings in Thousand Islands’ 7-1 Section 3 Class C first-round win over Sandy Creek on Friday.

Parliament struck out 13 and allowed only one run on one hit to the Comets (6-8). Quinn Gaffney and Connor MacKay also had RBIs for the Vikings (11-4).

Seth Miller went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs as the sixth-seeded Beavers downed the No. 11 Bulldogs (9-7) in a Class C first-round game at Beaver Falls.

Zach Mast and Colin Noftsier each added three hits for Beaver River (13-5).

Jared Makuch registered three hits as the eighth-seeded Falcons routed the No. 9 Lancers (7-4) in a Class C first-round game at Turin.

Ian Anderson and Branton Carpenter each added a pair of hits for South Lewis (9-5-1), which plays at No. 1 Oriskany on Tuesday.

The No. 11 Wildcats used a five-run ninth inning to upset the No. 6 Spartans in a Class B first-round game at Adams. Ethan Martin went 4-for-4 with an RBI for Adirondack (12-6). Kobe Porter posted two hits and an RBI for South Jefferson (11-5).

Derek Baur hit a two-run home run and singled to power the ninth-seeded Marauders, who went on to hold off the eighth-seeded Golden Knights in a Class D first-round game at Copenhagen.

Alex Matrassi tripled and singled for New York Mills. The Marauders (5-5) advance to play at No. 1 Lyme in Tuesday’s quarterfinal. Lucas Graves and Lukas Slate each singled twice and drove in a run for Copenhagen (8-7).

Keegan Kelley struck out 11 and threw a five-inning shutout as the top-seeded Bulldogs beat No. 8 Hermon-DeKalb (0-9) in a Section 10 Class D quarterfinal at Heuvelton.

Heuvelton (13-1) will host No. 5 Parishville-Hopkinton at 5 p.m. Wednesday in a semifinal. Kelley also led the Bulldogs offense, going 4-for-4 and driving in three runs.

Tanner Rosenbarker struck out six and gave up two hits as Parishville-Hopkinton beat the No. 4 Green Rockets (6-7) in a Class D quarterfinal at Morristown. Kade Hayes and Burt Chevier doubled for the Panthers (5-10).

Ben LaRock struck out nine to help the No. 2 Golden Knights top No. 7 St. Regis Falls (2-12) in a Class D quarterfinal at Lisbon. Lisbon (9-3) will host No. 3 Chateaugay in a semifinal at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Tyler Gravlin doubled twice and drove in a run for Lisbon and Storm Walker singled twice and drove in two runs. Noah Mayville doubled, singled and drove in three runs to lead St. Regis Falls.

Jonah McConald struck out 12 and added three hits to send the Bulldogs past No. 6 Edwards-Knox (3-7) in a Class D quarterfinal at Chateaugay. Brandon Bombard drove in two runs for the Bulldogs (8-7).

Brad McLear struck out 10 and allowed three hits to lead the No. 5 Lumberjacks (1-12) to an upset of No. 4 St. Lawrence Central in a Class C first-round game at Brasher Falls. Ansen Weegar struck out 14 for the Larries (8-7) and provided three hits.


Indian River’s Troy Stephen won the long jump and triple jump to highlight Frontier League performers at the Section 3 Class A championship at Central Square.

Stephen won the long jump with a leap of 21 feet, 3 inches and the triple jump at 43-6.75. Carthage’s Thomas Albright took the pentathlon with 2,924 points.

In the girls meet, Watertown’s Tiffany Russell won the pentathlon, and Indian River’s Tiffany Plunkett captured the 100-meter dash.
