Lyme secured the Frontier League’s only No. 1 seed in the Section 3 baseball playoffs that are set to begin today.
The Indians will compete in the Class D tournament and will play the winner of No. 8 Copenhagen and No. 9 New York Mills on Tuesday at Chaumont. Lyme and Copenhagen are the only two teams from the Frontier League “D” Division in the tournament. Copenhagen is scheduled to host New York Mills on Friday.
The initial rounds of the tournament are played at the home field of the higher seed, the semifinals and finals will be played at neutral locations. Lowville Central School will serve as the neutral location for the semifinals in the Class D tournament set to be played on May 31. Murnane Field in Utica is the site for the finals on June 2.
Both Carthage and Watertown will participate in the Class A tournament with the Comets seeded No. 8 and the Cyclones No. 5. Carthage will play No. 9 Fulton in a play-in game Friday at Carthage with the winner playing at No. 1 Syracuse Christiran Brothers Academy on Tuesday. Watertown is slated to play at No. 4 Whitesboro also on Tuesday. The Class A semifinals are scheduled for Falcon Park in Auburn on May 31. The finals will be played and Onondaga Community College on June 2.
South Jefferson and Lowville will participate in the Class B tournament with the Spartans the No. 6 seed and the Red Raiders the No. 18 seed. Lowille is scheduled to play at No. 15 Homer in a play-in game today. The winner moves on to play No. 2 Port Byron. South Jefferson will host No. 11 Adirondack on Friday. Murnane Field is the site for the Class B semifinal games on May 31 with the finals being played at OCC on June 2.
Four teams from the Frontier League made the Class C tournament. No. 8 South Lewis will host No. 9 LaFayette on Friday, No. 4 Thousand Islands will host No. 13 Sandy Creek on Friday, and No. 6 Beaver River will host No. 11 Westmoreland on Friday. The semifinals (May 30) and finals (June 2) will be played at Murnane Field.
