CHATEAUGAY — Norwood-Norfolk scored three runs in each of the first two innings and cruised to a 16-1 victory over Chateaugay in a Northern Athletic Conference East Division baseball game Thursday.

Bobby Voss was the winning pitcher for the Flyers (2-0 overall and division), allowing just five hits. Chateaugay fell to 1-2.

Brandon Bush struck out six batters and allowed just two hits as Madrid-Waddington (3-1) won an East Division game at Tupper Lake. It was the season-opener for Tupper Lake.

Bush also homered and singled for Madrid-Waddington. Joey Green, Brody VanBuren and Peyton Chambers all added two hits for the Yellowjackets.

Jake VanSteenburg struck out 10 to send Malone (1-1) past Canton in a Central Division game in Canton.

Jack Finnerty struck out 12 for Canton (0-1).


Makiah Ramsdell threw a two-hit shutout and struck out 14 to send St. Lawrence Central past Massena (0-2) in a Central Division game in Massena.

Ramsdell also picked up two hits for the Larries (2-1, 1-0), and Hannah Crump tripled and doubled.

Emily Wentworth struck out eight to send the Golden Bears to victory in a Central Division game in Canton, which also was the Golden Bears’ opener.

Ryleigh McCauley struck out eight for the Huskies (1-1) and Courtney Dumas led Malone’s offense with two hits.

Ogdensburg Free Academy scored nine runs in the top of the fifth inning in a Central Division win in Gouverneur.

Rileigh Planty and Riley Howe combined to strike out 10 for the Blue Devils (1-2, 1-0). Planty also picked up two hits.

Emily Farrand lined three hits, including a double and triple. Matt Hough and Katie Rogers also picked up two hits for the Blue Devils.

Alycia Cowan hit a three-run home run and drove in five runs as the Bulldogs (2-0) defeated the Flyers in an East Division game in Chateaugay.

Chloe Champagne and Anna Dumas produced three hits for the Bulldogs.

It was the opening game for the Flyers.

Kelly Bloom went 4-for-4 to send the Panthers (1-0) past the Saints in an East Division game in Parishville.

Brenna Woods went 3-for-4 and Emma Bloom went 2-for-2 for the Panthers. Skyelin Bradford homered for the Saints (0-1).

Abby Hart drilled three hits, including a double, to lead the Cougars past the Pirates in the West Division opener for each team in Russell.

Koryn Rowe and Morgan White supplied two hits for the Cougars. Tori Moore, Harlie Moore and Chloe Benson all produced three hits for the Pirates.

Bri Grant struck out 10 to send the Demons (1-0) to victory in a West Division game in DeKalb Junction.

Grant also singled three times and drove in three runs. Tessa Garve, Hallie Bouchey, Kat Frank and Mattie Brabaw all added two hits.

Kallee Wood singled twice for Lisbon (0-2).

Molly Williams homered, tripled and doubled to lift Heuvelton (2-0) in a West Division game in Morristown.

Megan Woodard added three hits and Kelsey Williams and Madison McCormick finished with two.

Kylie O’Donnell tripled and singled for Morristown (0-1).


John Mahoney scored two goals and assisted on another as the Golden Bears defeated the Red Raiders in an NAC game in Canton.

Cayden Emerson, Eben Thrasher, Daniel Mahoney and Aiden Knight all added two goals for Canton (3-1). Jack Campbell scored twice for Massena (1-4).

Isaac Testani scored six goals and assisted on six more to send OFA past Sara-Placid in an NAC game in Ogdensburg.

Wyatt Kirby scored three goals and Broc Morley threw in two for OFA (4-1, 4-0).

Hayden Plank led Sara-Placid (0-2) with two goals.

Matt Burg finished with three goals as St. Lawrence Central beat Plattsburgh (0-5) in an NAC game at Potsdam High School.

Logan Shantie contributed two goals for SLC (6-0, 5-0).


Paige Merz scored three goals for OFA (0-6, 0-4) in an NAC loss to Sara-Placid (1-1) in Ogdensburg.
