ADAMS CENTER — Leah Briones and Alayna Bush each recorded two hits and scored two runs for South Jefferson in their 5-2 victory over Westhill in the Section 3 Class C softball quarterfinals Thursday.
Bush also knocked in two runs and Sarah Busler added an RBI double for the Spartans (18-2 overall).
Westhill (10-5) managed only three hits and scored both of its runs in the fifth inning.
Sarah Johnson held Immaculate Heart hitless in LaFargeville’s Section 3 Class D quarterfinal victory over the Cavaliers in LaFargeville.
LaFargeville’s offense was busy in all five innings played and by the end of the game every Red Raider had recorded a hit. Abby Gaumes was 3-for-4 with three RBIs, Rachel Davis was 2-for-5 with two RBIs and Emma Timerman was 2-for-3 with a triple and a RBI for LaFargeville (17-0).
Belleville Henderson managed only two hits in what was a pitching duel in the Section 3 Class D quarterfinals in Munnsville.
Ashley Green and Sydney Hess recorded the only two hits for the Panthers (11-7). Stockbridge (15-2) earned its runs in the sixth inning with RBI singles from Abby Reed and Navaeh Randel.
Fifteen strikeouts from Chelcie Oakes helped Pulaski edge out Beaver River in the Section 3 Class C quarterfinals in Pulaski.
The Beavers (10-5) managed six hits and two runs. Megan Walseman collected three of the six hits while Emily Beck and Alexis Kloster scored Beaver River’s two runs.
Lauren Denny scored two runs for Pulaski (12-4).
Natalie Quonce hit three doubles to help lead ESM past Carthage in the Section 3 Class A quarterfinals at Carthage.
Three players had multiple RBIs for the Spartans (11-9). The Comets (12-6) had five hits and Kaylee Johnson supplied Carthage’s lone extra-base hit.
Rileigh Planty struck out eight and retired the last 20 batters to lead the Ogdensburg Free Academy softball team to a victory over No. 4 Gouverneur in a Section 10 Class B semifinal in Ogdensburg.
The top-seeded Blue Devils (12-5) will meet No. 2 Canton in the championship game at 5 p.m. today at SUNY Potsdam.
Samara LaFlair scored the eventual winning run for OFA in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly by Celia Henry. The Wildcats finished the season with a 7-9 record.
Makiah Ramsdell struck out 15 and threw a two-hit shutout to lead the top-seeded Larries past the No. 4 Yellowjackets (7-9) in a Class C semifinal in Brasher Falls.
St. Lawrence (16-1) will meet No. 2 Norwood-Norfolk in the championship game at 5 p.m. today at Canton High School.
Ramsdell also led the Larries on offense, going 3-for-3 and driving in four runs. Maggi Yandoh went 3-for-5.
Sydney Tanner struck out nine and allowed just one hit as No. 3 Hammond defeated No. 2 Chateaugay (12-5) in a Class D semifinal in Chateaugay.
Hammond (12-4) will meet No. 4 Edwards-Knox for the championship at 1 p.m. Saturday at SUNY Potsdam.
The Red Devils put the game out of reach with a five-run, fifth inning to build a 7-0 advantage.

Kendall Haney went 3-for-3 for Cooperstown (13-4).
The Vikings recorded five hits and pushed across just one run as Oriskany prevailed in the Section 3 Class C semifinals in Utica.
Thousand Islands (11-4) scored its only run off starter Carl Graziadei in the sixth inning. Colton Davis drove in three runs for Oriskany (19-3).
Jill Benedict scored five goals and assisted on three others as Salmon River defeated Section 4’s Chenango Forks 15-11 in a state Class D first-round game at Vestal.
The Shamrocks (13-3) will face Section 3’s Skaneateles in a quarterfinal at 9 a.m. Saturday at Fayetteville-Manlius.
