Bears edge Shamrocks in OT

FORT COVINGTON — Eben Thrasher scored off a pass from John Mahoney with 1 minute, 34 seconds left in overtime to give Canton a 13-12 victory over Salmon River in a Northern Athletic Conference boys lacrosse game Wednesday.

Salmon River (4-2 overall and division) led 12-6 after three quarters but Canton tied the game with a six-goal fourth quarter.

Cayden Emerson led Canton (6-1, 5-1) with four goals. Thrasher and Aiden Knight each scored three and Mahoney finished with two goals and six assists.

Keldren King paced the Shamrocks with five goals. Treyton Mitchell scored four and Trevan David added two goals and three assists.


Will Renzi led the scoring for the Cyclones with four goals in Watertown’s Frontier League “A” Division victory over Indian River in Philadelphia.

Cole Yurack and Ethan Wise each scored three times for the Cyclones (7-4, 2-1).

Ayden LaFave and Rowan Marsell had two goals a piece for Indian River (9-2, 2-2).

Josh Demko and Luke Piroli each collected three goals and two assists as the Comets blanked the Cavaliers in a Frontier League “A” Division game at Carthage.

Nick Neff added two goals and three assists for Carthage (5-5, 3-0).

Storm Tiberend posted five goals and four assists as the Spartans beat the Red Raiders in a “B” Division game at Adams.

Alex Jacobs added five goals for South Jefferson (3-8, 2-2).

Chad Bach notched a goal and three assists for Lowville (5-5, 0-3).

The Lions stay undefeated in the league with a crossover victory over Thousand Islands in Clayton.

Carter Rosbrook scored five goals for General Brown (11-1, 4-0) and Bryce Johnson contributed four in the victory.

Antonio Rodriguez led the Vikings (1-6, 1-2) with two goals.


Lindsey LaDue and Julia Blair both scored four goals to lead Massena in an NAC game in Potsdam.

Aryssa Hopps and Katelyn Kennedy both scored two goals for the Red Raiders (6-2, 6-0).

Erica Sloan led Potsdam (2-6, 2-5) with three goals and three assists. Alana McDonald and Josie Brusso both added two goals.


Joshua Rainbolt won three individual events as the host Cyclones beat the Spartans in a Frontier League “A” Division meet.

Rainbolt placed first in the 800 meters, the mile and the 3,200 for Watertown (2-0).

Spencer Zeltman gained wins in the long jump and triple jump for South Jefferson (2-4).


Miranda Brown singled, tripled and drove in four runs as the Red Knights downed the Purple Ghosts in a Frontier League “D” Division game at Alexandria Bay.

Emmaray Hummiston drove in a pair of runs with two hits and Kamryn Barned went 3-for-5 for LaFargeville (5-0).

Olivia Pappa allowed only one run over four innings and was 2-for-4 at the plate with two doubles in Sandy Creek’s Frontier League “C” Division victory over Beaver River in Beaver Falls.

Hailey McGrew also had two hits, including a double for the Comets (5-1, 4-1) and Sarah Balcom drove in two runs.

Caitlynn Woodward was 2-for-3 for the Beavers (4-3, 3-2).
