McCreadie places second in Lucas Oil dirt race

CANANDAIGUA — Watertown’s Billy Dunn took advantage of a late-race tangle between the leaders to get second place in the Liberty 100 SuperDIRTcar big-block modified race Thursday night at Land of Legends Raceway.

Max McLaughlin led 99 laps, but got mixed up with Erick Rudolph on the final lap. Matt Sheppard sprinted to the finish to take the win, with Dunn following. Justin Wright, Jimmy Phelps and Peter Britten rounded out the top five.

Edwards native Tim Fuller finished eighth and Rob Bellinger of Dexter was 28th.

n Watertown native Tim McCreadie took another top-10 finish with an eighth-place showing in the Independence 50 Lucas Oil Late Model Series on Thursday night at Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio. McCreadie is now in fifth in the series points standings and sits 35 points behind fourth-place Josh Richards. Mike Marlar took the win with a wire-to-wire victory.
