Rapids’ pair named to PGCBL All-Star Game

Watertown Rapids outfielder Derek Kasperzyk and pitcher Kenny Sysyn were named to the Western Division All-Star team for the upcoming Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Game slated for July 16.

The PGCBL All-Star Game will be at Cantine Field in Saugerties.

Kasperzyk, from Quinnipiac University, is batting .308 and has a home run and five RBIs. He also has 11 stolen bases.

Sysyn, from Marymount University, is 2-0 and has an earned-run average of 1.68.

n Rapids pitcher Michael Rounds was named the PGCBL Pitcher of the night for Sunday. The University of Massachusetts product hurled a complete-game shutout for seven innings and gave up two hits in Watertown’s 4-0 win over the Newark Pilots in the first game of a doubleheader Sunday.
