Watertown’s game at Geneva postponed

NEWARK — The Watertown Rapids’ game at the Newark Pilots on Thursday was postponed because of rain. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader at Newark on June 28. The game was Watertown’s fourth this season that was rescheduled because of weather.

The Rapids (7-6) return to host the Elmira Pioneers at 6:15 tonight at the Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds before playing their next three games on the road, including at Amsterdam on Saturday and at Utica on Sunday.

Four members of the SUNY Canton women’s lacrosse team are scheduled to throw out the first pitch today before the Rapids’ game. Watertown’s Erin Parks, Carthage’s Maddy Leary, Canton’s Erin Grandaw and Mexico’s EllaRose LeMay all will throw out first pitches. SUNY Canton set history this past spring, becoming the school’s first program to make an appearance in an NCAA Tournament. The Kangaroos (14-6) also won the North Atlantic Conference championship.

Watertown is scheduled to play three home games next week, hosting Utica and Elmira on Wednesday and Thursday at 6:15 p.m., respectively, and Geneva on June 29 at 7:15 p.m.
