POTSDAM — Salmon River held off a second-half Canton comeback to upset the top-seeded Golden Bears, 12-11, in a Section 10 boys lacrosse semifinal Tuesday night at Potsdam High School.
The No. 4 Shamrocks (12-4 overall) will face No. 2 St. Lawrence Central in the title game at 8 p.m. Thursday at Potsdam High School.
Salmon River built a 9-5 lead by halftime, but Canton (13-4) rallied to tie the game 9-9 with 3 minutes, 30 seconds left in the third quarter. The Golden Bears never took the lead, however, and Salmon River scored the go-ahead goal with 5:08 left to take an 11-10 lead.
Keldren King led the Shamrocks with five goals.
The Larries (13-3) trailed 5-4 early in the second half but rallied with the final four goals of the game to top Ogdensburg Free Academy in the first Section 10 semifinal at Potsdam High School.
Logan Shantie led SLC with five goals. Eli Bullock scored twice for the Blue Devils (11-6).
Krysten Thompson and Paisley Cook both scored three goals as No. 3 Salmon River defeated the No. 6 Bulldogs (1-14) in a Section 10 quarterfinal at Fort Covington.
Salmon River (10-3) will play No. 1 Canton in a semifinal at 6 p.m. Thursday at Potsdam High School.
Kendall Jock and Jianna Lazore both scored two goals for Salmon River.
Alana McDonald scored nine goals and added three assists as the No. 5 Sandstoners upset No. 4 Sara-Placid (6-7) in a Section 10 quarterfinal at North Country Community College at Saranac Lake.
Potsdam (6-11) will meet No. 2 Massena at 4 p.m. Thursday in a semifinal at Potsdam High School.
Erica Sloan and Josie Brusso both scored three goals for Potsdam, with Daysia Wagner adding two.
Robert Southwick hit a three-run home run and added two singles as the Red Raiders beat Heuvelton (12-1) in a nonleague game at Massena.
Matt Phillips and Garrett Engstrom both lined three singles for Massena (13-1).
The Flyers (12-2, 11-1) scored 14 runs in the second inning, sending 20 batters to the plate, in an East Division win over Chateaugay in Norwood.
Connor Paige went 4-for-4 to lead the Flyers. Patrick Smith picked up three hits, with Luke Allen, Bobby Voss and Michael Hewey adding two hits.
Jacob Reville went 3-for-3 to lead the Bulldogs (7-7).
Josh Langdon struck out eight in the opener to lead Brushton-Moira to an East Division sweep of the Lumberjacks (0-12) in Tupper Lake.
Wayne Palmer lined two hits in each game for the Panthers (10-4).
Chloe Harvey singled to drive in Kayly-Jaye Belmore with the winning run in the bottom of the 11th as the Flyers defeated Chateaugay (9-4) in an East Division game at Norwood.
Belmore also scored the tying run for Norwood-Norfolk (10-2) in the sixth on a single from Maisie Voss. Grace Furnace struck out 18 for the Flyers.
Stephenie Curran went 3-for-3 to help Madrid-Waddington defeat the Panthers (5-8, 4-8) in an East Division game in Parishville.
Marissa Hawkins and Meredith White both added three hits for Madrid-Waddington (5-7).
Kelsey Williams threw a two-hit shutout to send Heuvelton past the Red Devils (9-4) in a West Division game at Hammond.
Madison McCormick finished with four hits to lead the Bulldogs (16-0, 14-0).
DeKoda Matthews and Rachel Vachez combined to no-hit Morristown (5-6) in a West Division game at Russell.
Abby Hart homered and doubled for the Cougars (10-5, 9-5). Koryn Rowe supplied two triples and a double.
Rylie Showers finished with three hits as the Green Rockets (6-6) defeated Harrisville in another West Division game in Russell. Tori Moore and Chloe Benson both supplied two hits for the Pirates (7-10, 7-7).
Emily Farrand and Claire Rishe each tallied three hits as the Blue Devils (10-4, 10-2) defeated Massena in a Central Division game at Ogdensburg. Brayce Trimboli finished with two hits for Massena (4-10).
BOYS TRACK AND FIELD
Marcus Smith won the 110-meter hurdles, the 400 hurdles and the triple jump to send Malone (7-0) past the Blue Devils in an NAC meet in Ogdensburg. Luc LaFlair won the shot put and discus for OFA (4-4).
Jordan Stone (100, long jump), Ethan Barney (1,600 and 3,200) and Jeremiah von Borstel (400 hurdles, triple jump) each won two events as the Red Raiders (9-1) topped Salmon River (2-8) at Massena.
GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD
Luca Pecora won the 100, triple jump and 400 hurdles as Potsdam (7-1) defeated Malone, 160-159, in a three-team meet in Ogdensburg. Malone added a 196 1/2-120 1/2 win over the Blue Devils (3-5).
Isabella Shatraw won the 1,500 and 3,000 for the Sandstoners.
Destiny Rust won the 400, and Caitlin Douglas won the 100 hurdles and each ran on the winning 1,600 relay for Malone (5-3).
Violet Reyes (100 hurdles, 400 hurdles) and Hayley Castagnier (100, 200) won two events as the Red Raiders (7-3) beat Salmon River in Massena.
Logan Lazore won the shot put and discus for the Shamrocks (2-8).
